Vintage Seventies Make a Come Back This Spring

Something that puts a smile on my face is seeing all the beautiful vintage looks for Spring. I've gone through and picked some of the seasons trends for you.
Fendi
Tangerine.

"Zesty shades of orange give even the most ladylike looks a vibrant youthful flair. Tame your tangerine - use a contrasting rich colour to temper the shade. Try a touch of turquoise, a dash of hot-pink or a flash of glossy gold. This hue begs to be worn with tanned, toned legs. If the head-to-toe look is too bold, introduce orange as a lush accent via bags, shoes and shades." - Vogue UK

This is my favorite from the 3.1 Phillip Lim Spring RTW 2011 collection.

Stripes.

"It's the first week of spring, and in our book that calls for stripes." Vogue said it. If Vogue says it then stripes it is. I personally love stripes because they can be used to give your body a flattering shape. They can also workout to your disadvantage, but most designers know what they're doing ;) It's also a classy pattern which can take the funky route, too.

A little bit of stripe goes a long way and you can mix and match. Take a close look at the subtle stripes on the picture above. Without them this look would be boringly weird.

Peter Som
Michael Kors
Calvin Klein
Oooo, I have something very similar to both of these I am putting up in my vintage shop www.concept3c.com
Bright colors. There are a lot of geometric shapes to the design and silhouettes of this season's collections. Oh, and big sunglasses!

Derek Lam
Dresses that flow, halter necklines and hippie vibes.
 Chris Benz
Pea coats, flowers, butterflies and of course lots of mixed patterns and warm tones. Back to the seventies we go! Straighten your hair or let it go wild. The 70's are about discovery and freedom. Bra's optional!

Sort of Hibernation

So, like...(twirling her hair)... apparently starting a business is a lot of work ;) The grand opening was a hit and now it is time for the next event! Irina Salon is putting together a vintage fashion show featuring 60's wear from Concept3c. Who would have thought? I have about four to five pieces on the website. Well, I've got a huge rack full of clothes; AWESOME clothes from several eras. I'm in the process of setting up a studio-like studio? What happens behind the scenes stays...

Irina is an artist who owns a salon in South Miami Beach. She is a spark plug and a talent; I'm stoked to be a part of the project. We spent some time brainstorming the other day and came up with some really cool ideas. Updates to come... which brings up the the point. There isn't enough time in the day to regularly update the blog. Not yet. I'll pop in once in a while but will be going into hibernation with one paw sticking out of the cave.

Here is what to look forward to for Spring looks this year:

Crop tops with a big BUT, wear with caution. Pants or skirt worn below the waste in this case is taste-less. Example:

This is how to do it right. Simply a peak:

Another nice way to where a crop top is with high waist-ed pants. Basically, anything over the bellybutton goes.

Grand Opening for Concept3c

I will be sponsoring The Have-Nots Comedy Showcase and hosting the Grand Opening for Concept.3c, my new boutique.

To start off the night there will be a comedy event with The Have-Nots. Then comedy karaoke with wasabi. What is that you might ask? It's when you stick some wasabi in your mouth and try your best to sound funny while not singing jokes.

Prize for karaoke is a vintage Michael Kors bag!

Surprise national headliner!!!

Here is a peak of what else to expect from this team of comedians: http://www.rooftopcomedy.com/comics/AdrianMesa

After the show the lights go out and music comes on! Come out and celebrate with us! Free admission. Everyone is welcome.

Life Leasons from a 90 Year Old

This is written by Regina Brett, 90 years old, of the Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio.

You may have heard these many times and yes, most are cliché but so very important.
Her message is simple: Don't forget about tomorrow!
"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote lessons life taught me. It is the most requested column I've ever written." -Regina Brett
  1. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
  2. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
  3. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
  4. Pay off your credit cards every month.
  5. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
  6. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
  7. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
  8. Everything can change in the blink of an eye.
  9. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
  10. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
  11. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
  12. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
  13. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
  14. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
  15. The most important sex organ is the brain.
  16. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'
  17. Forgive everyone everything.
  18. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
  19. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
  20. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
  21. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
  22. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
  23. Yield.
  24. The best is yet to come...
It's obvious and you've heard them a million times but, a reminder can't hurt and what's better than hearing it from someone who has been through it all?
